At least once a day, someone on the intarwebs does a search for Cristofori's Dream, swearing the tune was in some movie or other. And finds my blog.
I wrote about that back in May of last year. Marilee and I, too, swear it was in a movie. But since this much time has passed, and people are still searching for it, suggests that it was not.
Well, gentle readers, I think I have solved the mystery.
It's not so much the tune, or the melody, but the nature, the style, of Cristofori's Dream theat gets people's attention. It's that "plinking" tone.
This, I feel, is why people think they've heard Cristofori's Dream before:
You be the judge.

The Jungle Book
i did the same... heard it on pandora
u may or may not have seen these movies:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0487267/
it explains which movies featured this piece...mystery solved!!
It can't be the jungle book because I've never seen the movie and I find Cristoforis Dream very familiar, but the thing is, it has nothing to do with a certain style because I listened to the song above and off the top of my head can name 'Honey' a movie and ' The Young And The Restless' a tv show that have parts of it in the theme song or movie because my memory hardly fails me except for in the case of Cristoforis dream. I'm thinking that maybe it was played when I was younger and somehow I have remembered it, but I'm only 16 so I'm very puzzled by why this one song seems so very familiar, but I cannot place it.
Peter Pan with Jeremy Sumpter
I swear it was in the Disney Alice and Wonderland that came out in 2010........it's driving me crazy to know for sure!
yHi;
In my case, I remember an old movie where a puppet clown would play a piano and the song was very similar to some of the parts of this song. Every time I hear this piece, I go to that memory. This was a scary movie.
There is definitely a certain movie... Or show. Is it possibly used in a movie/show trailer?
I also fleetingly thought it might be from an anime, but could be wrong.
Also, the song above I recognize from mr mom, so while the styles are similar,I can tell they're different songs.
The song from above is from the Young and the Restless. My grandma has been watching that soap since the 80's!
The "Young and the Restless" theme is "Nadia's Theme."

I believe that this song actually is familiar to many people because in the movie Holes, a song that goes "If only, if only the woodpecker sighs, the bark on the trees was as soft as the skies..." has the same tune as heard in Cristofori's Dream!!! Hope this helps!!
K guys: I looked on imbd.com and it said this was written for "Historia de una madre" (History of a Mother) 2003. I haven't seen this movie, but I've definitely heard the song.
the silent hill has a similar track to the Christofori's Dream... i hope this helps
Parts of it sound like the short tune from the movie version of "Holes".
Anastatia
Anastasia
This song's instrumentals were used in Mary J. Blige's song No More Drama.
The Big Red One (1980). Music playing from the music box Lee Marvin finds and gives to the young boy he found and fed after they liberated the concentration camp. At the end of the song the boy dies. So beautiful. At least that's the only connection I make.

For some reason the animated movie of Moses the king of Egypt comes to mind when I listen to this song . I haven't seen the movie in a very long time but I have a feeling it's from that movie
You're totally right about "Holes" and "Once Upon a December" from Anastasia. That's your answer right there!
It was Stephan and Laura's theme song on General Hospital way back in 1998. Every flashback scene was accompanied by Cristoforis Dream. Most especially when Stephan was about to be charged with Catherine Bell's murder and he needed Laura to take care of their son Nicolas.
The Man from Snowy River (1982) has that song or very similar when he's rounding up the brombies. However I think the song came out in 88 so must only be very similar?
I agree with Selma Berrios

For some reason I think it may be from a Unico cartoon movie where the evil guy is turning the townspeople into puppets. And there is a scene where the evil guy is reminiscing on his childhood. I feel like this song is in there. Not sure but that's what I think of. This movie scared me as a child. Very odd.
